Afterglow Over Toronto Train Yard 多倫多火車厰上的餘暉

【Behind the Image】《Afterglow over Toronto Train Yard》At 7pm today, having a fine weather with thin and light clouds in the sky, I went to Canadian Pacific Railway Toronto Yard near Middlefield Road, Toronto and hoped to capture the beauty of the afterglow. I climbed up the ramp to the bridge over the train yard to get the higher and best position to compose the shot.

Unbearable Cold in Early Spring 寒風難耐已初春

【Ontario Yours to Discover】 《Unbearable cold in early spring》: Today is sunny with wintry at 6°C but it feels like 0°C. A light snow occurred in the morning. My photo buddy John and I had an afternoon coffee before going for an hour walk at the nearby Toogood Pond in Toronto. This pond is located in the residential area in the community of Unionville.  An artificial pond, wooden bridge, winding trail and various plants have composed beautiful scenery that makes Toogood Pond a popular place for a walk and landscape photography.

Mandarin Ducks at Edwards Gardens 愛德華植物園的鴛鴦

【Ontario Yours to Discover】 《Mandarin ducks at Edwards Gardens》: This afternoon was cloudy and humid with temperature at 15°C. I am now at the Edwards Gardens, the home of botanical gardens in Toronto. All the beautiful flowers have not yet appeared but there are a few Mandarin ducks in the water for photography. The garden is quiet with a few visitors.

I am now enjoying an hour of stroll and photography at the Rotary Park in Ajax, just 30 km, 25 minutes drive east of Toronto. The park is beautiful with winding trail, historical bridges and waterfront scenes, good for landscape photography.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】《Reminiscing Durham Road 9》: I first visited Durham Road 9, also known as Ganaraska Road in 2011. In hundred years ago, it was one of the busiest highways in Central Ontario running from west to east in 50km to Rice Lake. It passed through many historic towns in Central Ontario but was gradually taken over by the Highway 401 as the main east-west highway.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】 《Rouge Beach Trail》: The northern coast of the Ontario Lake has cities built along the waterfront creating a very attractive lakescape and natural scenery that made these places popular and good for sight-seeing and photography. Durham West Waterfront Trail starts from Pickering east of Toronto, stretching along the waterfront all to Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Port Hope and further beyond the east.

【Behind the Image】 "Night shots at the Toronto Nathan Philips Square": Owing to my illness and cold weather, I have not taken photographs in the past three weeks, but staying home as a "house-male". Temperature went up to 8°C last night. At 9, I went to Nathan Philips Square in front of the Toronto City Hall to take night photography. This is one of my first visits to the Square in Toronto back to twenty odd years ago when I settled in Toronto. I have not visited the Square in the last five years.

1881 Heritage 文物1881

【Photo Journey】《Heritage 1881》In 2014, I returned to Hong Kong and visited the former Hong Kong Marine Police Headquarters which ceased its operation in 1996 and became the "Heritage 1881" in Tsim Sha Tsui. This new architectural complex retained the main building of the marine police headquarters, stable block, time ball tower, fire station and accommodation block. My last visit did not let me get a full view of the building complex because of the restricted opening to the public.
