【Hong Kong Nostalgia】
《A memorable reunion of university classmates at Nam Sang Wai in Hong Kong》: On Dec 23, 2014 I made a trip to Nam Sang Wai with my university classmates in Hong Kong. This excursion to was joyous and meaningful as we shared the joy of landscape photography, recollected our golden university life and captured the last face of the changing fish ponds before their disappearance under the rapid urbanization in the New Territories.

《Sai Kung East Country Park in Hong Kong》: Hong Kong is widely known for her beautiful countryside and outlying islands. Liu Ke-xiang, a famous hiking observer from Taiwan in his new book, "Three-quarters of Hong Kong", also realized that three-quarters of the countryside is the actual character of Hong Kong. As such, on Dec 17, 2014 Colman, my university classmate and I went to Sai Kung East Country Park for taking photos of the country landscape. I am glad that he could join me as we have missed each other for several decades since we left university.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】In Toronto, October is always a good month to see maple colors. In the past few years, I always spent an hour's drive north of Toronto to visit Horseshoe Valley Road in Barrie to enjoy the fall colors. I like to go to the section of the Horseshoe Valley Road near the Horseshoe Valley Skii Resort . The entrance of the resort is at the bottom of the slope. While standing on the top of the hill on the Horseshoe Valley Road, one will see the road run down to the valley bottom and continue to move up to the top of the hill. The road appears like a roller coaster on the slide.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】: This is the fourth year I visited Canada National Exhibition (CNE) for photography. On August 28, 2014 I went to this annual event at 7:30pm after queuing for one hour for admission. I did not have much time for photography of different activities as I had to leave at 10pm, I only focused my photo theme on the Sky Ride.

On April 15: 《Missed the Lunar eclipse》
That night, the cloudy sky was not good for moon photography! August 10, 2014 is another great chance to capture the imminent super moon. Super moon is the moon at perigee with the closest point of 356,955 kilometers to Earth in its orbit – one that is up to 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than a regular full moon.

I bought a used Tamron 500mm f/8 mirror reflex lens last year. This kind of mirror reflective lens was produced in the 70s when I was learning film photography. It was created for photographer shooting with a longer focal length but in a compact size and light weight. However, this kind of reflective lens dropped out in favor in the 90s.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】That day we went to Pickering in Toronto to take sunset photographs. This day, my photo buddy, John and I wished to continue outdoor photography. We went to Pickering again but this time we followed the map to a nearby creek near the marinas in a lakeside park. The location was facing the dam and the distant lighthouse. We wanted to practice slow shutter shooting but upon arrival, we were surprised to find many flying birds.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】 Toronto has charming evening, but to shoot the beautiful sunset at dusk, we have to invest a little thought to find a suitable location good for photography. Perhaps we can go to the lakeshore downtown. The Toronto lake has a long shoreline which stretches eastward with many sunset attractions. That day, Derek, John and I, the Photo Trio went to Pickering, about 20km east of Toronto to take some sunset photographs.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】 A few days ago, I was driving eastbound on Steeles Avenue in Toronto. After turning to the Old Finch Avenue I noticed that the street scene gradually changed. The busy street became narrow and desolate. My car was entering into the area of a country farm. Incidentally, I saw a small pond on the roadside. It was tranquil and lovely.

【Ontario Yours to Discover】 Though the night scene in Toronto is not gorgeous than Hong Kong's "Pearl of the Orient", its light colors along the lakeside in downtown are still attractive. My photo friend, John invited me to take night photos at lakeside Toronto, I was glad to accept his invitation. We had our dinner in a Chinese restaurant in downtown before heading to lakeshore.

It was overcast and cool on Thursday. Though it was already in early spring, the winter chill was still there. John of our "Photography Trio" texted me and Derek a message suggesting bird photography at the Toogood Pond. Three of us then had chit-chat for a while at a roadside coffee shop before driving to the destination. The pond still has a layer of ice.

【Hong Kong Nostalgia】 Over the past three years, every time I returned to Hong Kong, I would always go to Nam Sang Wai in Yuen Long for photography because I believe that in the process of urban development, Nam Sang Wai will eventually disappear. As such, I want to have a closer look of it before its total disappearance!

【Hong Kong Nostalgia】Plover Cove Reservoir was built in the northeast New Territories, Hong Kong. The main dam extends from Tai Mei Tuk to the Plover Cove, connecting the southern end of two small islands. The dam surrounds the islands blocking seawater and pumping out brackish water to create a reservoir. The reservoir was completed in 1968, becoming the world's largest and is the first reservoir built in the sea.
