Tamron 500mm Reflex Lens 騰龍500mm反射鏡頭

I bought a used Tamron 500mm f/8 mirror reflex lens last year. This kind of mirror reflective lens was produced in the 70s when I was learning film photography. It was created for photographer shooting with a longer focal length but in a compact size and light weight. However, this kind of reflective lens dropped out in favor in the 90s.

This time when I was taking scenic photograph in Pickering, I tested this lens and put it on the Lumix G10 body with an adapter ring. In order to ensure sharpness and stability, I used a tripod and timer.

Advantage:  The length of the mirror lens is shortened by a combination of 2 mirrors to reflect light back and forth between the ends of the lens before passing the light to the camera. Hence the size of the mirror lens is only one third of the convention lens and the mirrors are much lighter and cheaper than the optical glasses. With such a compact size, it is easy to hand hold the camera.

Disadvantage:  A mirror lens has a fixed focal length of 500mm and a fixed aperture of f8. Therefore, we cannot change the depth of field which is very narrow and difficult to focus. Bokeh effect created from out of focus highlight is always distracted with some "doughnut rings". Image appears a bit softer. Better focus requires a good and steady tripod with bright viewfinder.

去年我買了一個騰龍500釐米8光圈二手反射鏡頭。這類鏡頭在我學習菲林 (膠卷) 攝影的七十年代開始出現，為攝影師提供長焦距而軽巧的鏡頭。可是，這類反射鏡頭到九十年代便式微了。這次有機會去多倫多碧谷寧拍攝風景照片，我將這支反射鏡頭用接環安裝在Lumix G10的機身作測試。為了保証拍攝的清晰和穩定，我用了三腳架和自拍掣。

優點： 反射鏡頭加了兩片鏡子，進入的光線在兩者間折射，鏡頭的長度大大縮短。因此，反射鏡的體積祇是傳統鏡頭的三分之一，而反射鏡片比光學鏡片較輕巧和亷宜。由於體績小，反射鏡頭可輕易手持拍攝。

缺點： 由於反射鏡頭祇有500釐米定焦和f/8固定光圏，因此不能改變窄景深而對焦也較困難。散景效果也受影響，背景出現礙眼的「甜甜圈」狀光環，拍攝的影像也較為鬆柔。要有效對焦便要依賴優質和穩定的三腳架和明亮的觀景器了。
