Its total area is 24 hectares. The length of the main dam is 2,100 meters whereas the two auxiliary dams is 200 meters each. Dam height is 28 meters. Water storage capacity is 170 million cubic meters. Plover Cove Reservoir faces the Pat Sin Ridge in the north, south to Plover Cove. Main crest laying carriageway and cycle track makes Plover Cove Reservoir a popular tourist attraction.
My first visit to the Plover Cove dam was made in the early 70s. This time, I felt a bit peculiar when I came back to the familiar dam with lots of memories. I saw the towering Pat Sin Ridge and the Plover Cove waters looked still and calm. Sailing boats moved slowly passing the sun shone crystal-clear waters. Tai Mei Tuk has built many water-sports centers. I strolled on the main dam and took photographs to accomplish this album.

DeletePete,
ReplyDeleteAppreciate what you are doing. Those photos always bring back lots of reminiscence when HK was ruled by the British. The knowledge of history is great too. Thanks.
Karl
Hi Karl, thanks for your comment. When I shot the seascape in the last 2 photos (#18 & 19), I recalled that Shatin used to have beautiful seascape in the 60s. However, urbanization has changed its portrait and Shatin sea became a river, or simply a ditch. I hope that this will never happen in Plover Cove!
