By the tree I watch closely the saltpan,Up on the hill I look over Kau Sai Wan.
In the breeze slender reeds dance gently,
Across the sea scenic hills look misty.
Recently, I watched a TV documentary in Toronto about Yim Tin Tsai Village. It is an old village of Hakka dialect, built in more than 200 years on an island near the town of Sai Kung, Hong Kong.
Colin Chan is the village representative. He felt pity that this village had been deserted for 20 odd years and therefore took initiative to mobilize some of the village folks to restore the village. He rebuilt the village facilities: church, saltpans, mangrow forest, village trail etc, hoping to bring the village back to the good old day of a plain and simple natural environment. I was deeply impressed. On December 11, 2011, I had the chance to make a trip to this village with my friend and students. I felt lucky to have such a wonderful personal experience in the visit. Nowadays, it is rare and praiseworthy to see the existance of such courage and willpower in fostering the spirit of environmental protection to counteract the immense current of urbanization.

蘆葦迎風纖腰擺，山色隔海薄霧怡。
2011年12月11日在香港與學生及友人同遊西貢鹽田梓。我身在加拿大，從電視看過專輯，介紹鹽田梓村長陳忠賢先生為了荒廢了20多年的客家村鹽田梓而感到可惜，因此發起了保育鹽田梓，為村內的建設：教堂、鹽田、紅樹林、道路等進行復修工程，希望使鹽田梓回復昔日鄉村樸實的環境面貌。我深受感動之餘，今天有幸能到鹽田梓遊覽，親身體驗，覺得在都市化的洪流中，仍存在一股環保活化自然的勇氣和毅力，實難能可貴。
