From Tai Long Sai Wan to Chek Keng 西灣至赤涇

【Photo Journey】《From Tai Long Sai Wan to Chek Keng》: To enjoy the most beautiful beach in Hong Kong, you can not go without visiting the famous Tai Long Sai Wan (lit. "Big Wave West Bay") at Sai Kung East Country Park in Hong Kong. It is due to the wide bay with shallow water, sandy beaches, big waves and beautiful scenery that it is renowned to be the top of the ten beautiful beaches in Hong Kong. I first came to Tai Long Sai Wan for scout camping some 50 years ago.
We then started from Tai Mong Tsai at Sai Kung, hiking and climbing several hills to reach Sai Wan (West Bay) campsite. I came back to Hong Kong last year and went with friends from Sai Kung to the Sai Wan Kiosk by minibus. From there to Chui Tung Au, we saw Tai Long Sai Wan but then we only turned our way right to Long Ke and finally to the Plover Cove Reservoir dam instead. It was a pity that we had missed Tai Long Sai Wan. This year I was in Hong Kong again, my old friends accompanied me for a day trip at Tap Mun island. Only in that morning we changed the trip to Tai Long Sai Wan and set our destination to Chek Keng. I was pleased to have my wishes finally fulfilled. At Tai Long Sai Wan where my fist visit was made in my early childhood, I saw the sandy beach and big waves. Her charm still remained but the relentless years had honed my innocent childhood to become a mature man with deepest passion for reminiscence. I took photographs of the natural beauty of Tai Long Sai Wan, Ham Tin Wan and Chek Keng, leaving remarks of my affection and feeling towards these beaches.

【光影記行】《西灣至赤涇》要欣賞香港最美麗的海灘，不能不去香港西貢東郊野公園著名的大浪西灣，由於灣寛、水淺、沙幼、浪大、景美，被譽為香港十大海灘之冠。我初次遊大浪西灣，是五十年前參加童軍露營，從西貢大網仔步行，攀山越嶺抵達西灣紥營。去年返港，在西貢搭小巴往西灣亭，由此步行到吹筒坳，遠見西灣，當時祇右轉往浪茄到船灣淡水湖石壩作終點，緣慳一面，未有成行。今年再次在港，難得有朋同遊。當日原定塔門遊，臨時改變行程，步行往大浪西灣到赤涇，終於如願以償。在大浪西灣，目睹童年到過的海灘，水清沙幼，風采依然，但無情歲月已將童真的我磨練成人、性情中思故舊。我用相機拍下大浪西灣、咸田灣及赤涇的自然美貌，也留下了我鍾情灣景的一些話語。

【 Itinerary ● 行程】

At Sai Kung city, taking 29R minibus to Sai Wan kiosk terminal, following the road sign to Sai Wan Village. Taking taxi is more convenient, single trip is around HK$90. At Chek Keng, take ferry to Wong Shek Pier, then #94 bus back to Sai Kung city to end the journey. If the trip ends at Wong Shek Pier or Pak Tam Au, you may take #94 bus back to Sai Kung city.

在西貢市中心乘搭29R專線巴士到西灣亭總站下車，沿往西灣村路牌指示起行，但行車班次較疏。這天我與兩同學坐的士，車費約港幣九十元。在赤涇作終點，可乘船返黃石碼頭，再乘94號巴士返西貢市中心。終點也可定為黃石碼頭或北潭凹，後者可在西沙路乘黃石碼頭開出的94號巴士返西貢市中心。
