I love to drive along the side roads in Ontario. Many of them have already faded out in the process of urbanization. However, they are still the important roads connecting all the small towns in the rural Ontario. The Durham Road 9 is one of the famous side roads that I have visited many times in the past. These side roads have witnessed the prosperity of small towns in their golden days and they eventually become the relics of the urbanization. Monday, February 13, 2012

In a sunny afternoon of Sept 11, 2011, I visited the Ontario 'Backroad' again: the Durham Road 9, also known as Ganaraska Road. It is 60 KM east of Toronto and runs eastward 50km to Rice Lake. Along the way there are many picnic sites, general stores, gas stations and even a few fast food stores carrying on an Ontario tradition that is generations old!
