TCO 20th Anniversary Concert

In the evening of 22 June 2013, Toronto Chinese Orchestra(TCO) has the 20th Anniversary Concert held at the PC Ho Theatre, Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. Guest artists included Yazhi Guo, Winds virtuoso, Tao He, Erhu virtuoso and Pingxin Xu, Dulcimer virtuoso. Toronto Chinese Orchestra was founded in 1993 by Mr Hoi Lee and a group of Chinese music enthusiats to promote and develop Chinese music in Toronto. I have participated in and witnessed the birth and growth of the orchestra since 1993.
This concert has given me reminiscence in the journey of the participation and development of Chinese music in Toronto. The success in recruiting more younger members and their growth in performance is obvious and evident.

The 50-person TCO has performance showing the genuine skills and a strong spirit of cooperation of the members under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor, Karl Pang. TCO performed with the three musicians, playing traditional and contemporary music. Orchestra founder Mr Hoi Lee and his wife also came from Hong Kong to Toronto to attend this event. Lee shared with the audience the birth and development of TCO, some thoughts and experience, finally performing on stage with erhu with the three virtuosi and orchestra in unison "Tune of a Bamboo Flute" as the finale of the concert repertoire. I enjoyed this meaningful concert and used the camera to capture their Elegantia on stage.
