Anna’s yanqin sounds through

With 30 odd years of harmonious mentorship as well friendship
The sonorous sounds of gold and jade blend with passion of the maple leaves.
It is a pity because of the cancellation of the concert. Please accept my apology. Here, I want to share with you a story behind this concert. I attach herewith a short message written by Anna Guo, originally published in this concert program book: "Gather again after 34 years" which clearly tells her harmonious relation with Professor Xu Lingzi as teacher as well as friend. It is Anna Guo who introduced Professor Xu to make the concert possible. I named the concert "Harmony of Qin and Zheng Melody" to honor the demeanor performance of the two musicians Anna (Qin) and Xu (Zheng). This incident made everyone feel pity, but also made me feel sorry for the failure to make their dream come true. I admire Mr. Xu for the belief that “artist himself is already producing beauty and can spread love, beauty and goodness.” I sincerely learnt from her. I believe that as we keep working hard, we will have the opportunity to meet in a concert in future to present "Harmony of Qin and Zheng Melody" again.

"Gather again after 34 years" — by Anna Guo
In 1985, I led the women's string quintet of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music to visit the Netherlands, Belgium and other countries with the delegation of the city government. At that time, Lingzi (in the middle behide me) was a young teacher who just graduated from school and was cultured and refined, modest and amiable. She has an outstanding skill in guzheng. Now she is a famous guzheng player and a senior professor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She has made great achievements in performance and academic research! At the end of 2018, we reunited with the invitation to participate in the concert of the national musician Hu Dengniu's repertoire in Shanghai. I came up with the idea that I wanted to introduce her guzheng music to the Canadian audience. Today, 34 years later, I am glad to be able to invite her coming to Toronto to perform with the Ontario Chinese Orchestra in Canada, together in the concert "Harmony of the Qin and Zheng Melody"! （original text from OCO concert program book of "Harmony of Qin & Zheng Melody")

《安省中國民族樂團》之《琴箏龢鳴》音樂會因取消令觀眾失望，我為此而致歉。在此，也想分享籌辦這場音樂會背後的故事。以下附上郭敏清老師刊登在這場音樂會場刊中的短文《34年再聚首》，內容道出她與許菱子教授亦師亦友情誼。也因為郭老師引薦許教授，撮合了這場音樂會的成立。我為音樂會命名《琴筝龢鳴》，表彰郭敏清(琴)、許菱子(箏)兩位音樂家藝術的風範。這次意外令大家感到可惜之餘，也令我傷感歉疚未能為她們圓夢。我欣賞許老師抱着「藝術家本身已經在產生美，能夠傳播愛、美、善。」的信念演奏音樂。我衷心向她學習。我相信，祇要繼續努力，我們日後必有機會在同一音樂舞台上相聚，重現《琴箏龢鳴》。

《34年後再聚首》— 郭敏清
1985年，我帶領上海音樂學院女子絲弦五重奏組隨市政府代表團出訪荷蘭比利時等國，當時的菱子（在我身後中間）是一名剛畢業留校的青年教師，性格溫雅，為人謙和，琴藝出眾。現在，她已是一位著名的古箏演奏家，香港演藝學院的資深教授，在演奏和學術研究上成績斐然！2018年底，我們重逢於共同應邀參加了在上海舉辦的民族音樂家胡登跳先生重奏作品音樂會上，萌發了我想介紹她的古箏音樂給加拿大聽眾的想法，34年後的今天，能邀請到她來多倫多演出，與加拿大安省中國民族樂團共襄盛舉，琴箏和鳴，不亦樂乎！（原文刊登於安省中國民族樂團《琴箏龢鳴》音樂會場刊）
